Henry C. Meier, AWS

Henry C. Meier has been enamored with watercolor since he was a
teenager in Pennsylvania. During overseas duty in the Army he sketched
on-location to capture military life, Normandy landscapes and
Montmartre street scenes. After his wartime service Hank sketched
whenever time allowed as he earned his Engineering Degree at Penn
State. Later he sketched his wife Mary and their children. He rounded
out drawing, painting and compositional skills by participating in
evening art classes, watercolor workshops and by studying independently
using his art library. Henry became a full time painter in 1986. He was elected to
active membership in the American Watercolor Society in 2006. He is a
signature member of Allied Artists of America, Watercolor West, AAPL,
Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Philadelphia Watercolor Society and
the Baltimore Watercolor Society. He holds the status of Fellow in The
American Artists Professional League. He served as a Director and
Membership Chairman of The Philadelphia Water Color Society, which
presented the Crest Award to him in 2004 based on his award
achievements.

He was awarded prizes in The Baltimore Watercolor Society,
Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and Allied Artists of America annual
exhibitions all in one year. His work was featured in the Spring 2003
issue of Watercolor Magic and the Fall 1995 issue of The Watercolor
Magazine, and a reproduction of an award winning painting was included
in the 1994 Winsor Newton Artists Calendar.

He was Artist of the Year for PNC Bank, which sold an entire
print issue of a commissioned painting. The Delaware Foundation of
Visual Arts presented him as the Honored Artist for 2005 at The Hagley
Museum. He demonstrates painting on-location, conducts Watercolor
Workshops and publishes prints of his work. His art is included in the
collections of the Winterthur Foundation, United States Coast Guard,
Medical Center of Delaware, DuPont Europe in Geneva, Hotel DuPont, MBNA
America, PNC Bank, Wilmington Trust Co., CIGNA and other corporate and
private collections.
