MICHAEL BUDDEN
Living in his native state of New Jersey Michael Budden was known as an award winning wildlife artist in the 80's. He traveled extensively throughout the US in search of interesting subject matter. His paintings have been included in major museum exhibitions, and private collections across the country . With numerous awards to his credit and a growing popularity, Mr. Budden not only helped to raise environmental awareness he was able to raise major critical funding in support of wildlife habitat during that period.
During the 90's, Mr. Budden started to shift his interest to painting landscapes and seascapes with a focus on capturing light and design. Besides painting in the studio, Budden also started to paint outdoors on location allowing the use of a more painterly approach at times called plein air painting.
With his new direction mastered Mr. Budden once again started to receive recognition and win awards in major exhibitions.
2007 brought Mr. Budden yet another shift in subject matter with the introduction of urban city scenes. This interest grew while visiting New York City for many years prior and completing his first painting in 2007. It was an instant hit at the Salmagundi Club in NYC and Budden was off on another exciting run of critical acclaim and adding more awards to his credit since. Some of the awards are: he is a two time winner ofthe “Arthur T. Hill Memorial Award”for Best Landscape by an artist who is 45 or Younger, at the Salmagundi Club, NYC, the 2008 “ Vezin Purchase Prize” for his painting “Flatiron” , the 2009 & 2012 “Alden Bryan Memorial Award, top award, at the Annual Members Exhibition . He has won numerous awards in many of the other major shows held at the Club including Allied Artists, Audubon Artists and most recently earning Fellow, Maxima Cum Laude from the American Artists ProfessionalLeague. Other organizations Budden has won awards in are the American Impressionists Society, Oil Painters of America and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society His paintings can be found throughout the US in various venues andgalleries.
