Arline Mann is a watercolor artist. Her watercolors contemplate light and shadow in personal spaces and on cherished objects. Building on the traditions of Nineteenth-Century Scandinavian painters such as Christen Kobke, Constantin Hansen, and Anders Zorn, her work explores a benevolent world and seeks clarity and calm. In Mann's watercolors, exterior light stresses the comfort and shelter of the interior elements -- a distinctive room, familiar objects such as glass, books, soap -- always with a sense of human occupation.

Mann’s subject matter is primarily interiors and still life. Whatever the subject matter, the
work is about exaltation, joy, introspection and the relationship of exterior and interior
worlds.

Mann has studied at the National Academy of Art and at The Art Students League. Her work
has been included in many group exhibitions at the National Arts Club (New York, NY) and
The Salmagundi Club (New York, NY). Mann recently had a solo exhibition at The
Association for Visual Arts (Chattanooga, TN), and her work is also part of the collection of
Goldman, Sachs & Co. She is an elected member of Allied Artists of America and The
American Artists Professional League.

Mann lives and maintains studios both in New York City and in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
