GEORGENE MCGONAGLE

While growing up, Georgene had little exposure to art, absorbing herself in academia while finding a natural ability in athletics. She graduated cum laude with a BS degree from SMU, and began a teaching career there in Biology, while continuing to play competitive golf. With her love of children, she has volunteered years to Boards of Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs and Women/Junior golf organizations.

With her eclectic background, “and a chance touch of clay”, and working with youngsters, all have helped her develop the skills for sculpting realistic children and animals in bronze. Recently, she’s enjoyed working with a freer and more stylized form of sculpting, surprising both the viewer and herself!

The sculptures are in numerous public parks, schools, businesses and private collections throughout the US. In Denver, they can be found at Coors Field, National Jewish Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, Boys and Girls Club, American National Bank, and Cherry Creek North.

Georgene has participated in exhibitions throughout the United States, as well as the Rocky Mountain region, receiving awards from Allied Artists of America, Women Artists of the West, Salmagundi Club Exhibition, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and Audubon Artists. inc
