LEE HUTT

Lee studied painting in Belgium where her love of the classical traditions in art was encouraged. She traveled widely both studying and looking… always looking.

Pursuing a course in psychology, Lee received a masters degree in science from Columbia University. Lee continued to take art classes at the New School where she was influenced by the work of Jacob Lawrence and Chaim Gross.

​When Lee married and moved to Massachusetts, she intensified her studies in sculpture at Mount Holyoke College. Lee combines her knowledge of people with skill as a painter and she brings that creativity to her sculpture.

​“It seems a natural transition. A person’s face, their gestures, their movements tell so much about
how they see themselves and their world. It is all there, in elegant simplicity.”

Her goal is to capture that integrity in clay and then bronze.
