Rae Smith- Featured Member for the Month of September


Rae Smith is Allied Artists' feature artist for the month of September.

She is an accomplished artist who excels in a variety of mediums but is best known for her delicate and thoughtful pastel paintings. She was elected Master Pastellist by thePastel Society of American 1997 and was their 2014 Hall of Fame Honoree. Rae has exhibited her pastels and oil paintings throughout the United States as well as Japan, China, France, Italy, Russia, Taiwan and Canada. Rae is listed inWho’s Who in American Art and inThe Dictionary of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers.


Her paintings have won many awards including Gold Medal from Audubon Artists,  Founder’s Award from PSA, first prize for pastel from CLWAC, and an Artistic Excellence Award from The Salmagundi Club. Rae has had her work exhibited at and included in the permanent collections of Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio, and Noyes Museum, Oceanville, N.J.

In addition, her work has been included in Best of Pastel II, Pastel Application Techniques for Beginners, Mitsukoshi Magazine (Japan), Pastel Artist International Magazine, Pastel Journal Magazine and American Artist Magazine.


Most recently, Rae's art has been included in, "Pure Pastel: Contemporary Works by Today's Top Artists" by Anne Hevener.


Rae is also represented by Ocean Galleries of Stone Harbor and Avalon, NJ.
